Agricultural
attractions in Western New York Outside of the urban centers
of Buffalo and Rochester, Western New York is still a largely rural area with
an active agricultural industry. While dairying is king, almost every kind of
crop that the climate allows is grown somewhere in the Genesee Country. The
best way to experience this variety is to take in one of the many harvest
festivals that occur throughout the summer and fall, attend a traditonal county
fair, stop at our many roadside markets or attend one of our Saturday farm
markets. The Finger Lakes region is renowned for its favorable
climate for grape growing, and many wineries offer tours
and tastings. Some farms even open up their barn doors to show the city
